Register your pet to take with you in the cabin

You can take your dog or cat with you in the cabin on your Lufthansa flight. We’ll check the availability and make the booking for you no later than 72 hours before departure. We shall inform you by email if it is not possible to make the booking for your pet. If your booking is successful, you must pay the fees incurred when checking in at the airport.

Since 1 January 2020, the transport of dogs and cats belonging to snub-nosed (brachycephalic) breeds has been restricted.

To snub-nosed breeds

Dogs and cats that weigh more than 8 kg including their transport container may be transported under certain conditions as excess baggage in the aircraft’s air-conditioned cargo hold.

We shall check for availability, and add the transport of your pet in the cabin to your next Lufthansa flight booking. We shall inform you by email if it is not possible to make the booking for your pet. If your booking is successful, you must pay the fees incurred when checking in at the airport.

Requirements
  • Booking no later than 72 hours before departure (otherwise please contact the Service Center up to 24 hours before departure)
  • available exclusively on flights operated by Lufthansa
  • maximum dimensions of the travel carrier: max. 118 cm total size (55 x 40 x 23 cm)
  • maximum weight: 8 kg (including the travel carrier)
  • the travel carrier must be softly padded as well as leak-proof, odour-proof and large enough for the animal to be able to stand in its natural position, and also lie down and turn without any restriction
  • Lufthansa Express Bus: carriage at your own risk, no reservation necessary
  • Lufthansa Express Rail: carriage at your own risk, no reservation necessary
  • You are obliged to present the health, entry and transfer documents required at the airport
