How does Lufthansa’s online check-in work?

With Lufthansa, you can conveniently check in online from 23 hours before departure, select your seat and print out your boarding pass or have it sent to your mobile phone. You can choose to either check in online or use the Lufthansa app. Mobile boarding passes are available for most Lufthansa destinations, but in some exceptional cases they cannot be issued due to official regulations. If this is the case, you will be sent confirmation that you’ve checked in, which you then hand over at the airport counter to obtain your boarding pass. On short-haul and medium-haul flights in Economy Class, you will receive a Lufthansa chocolate if your flight lasts 30 minutes or less, and an additional free bottle of mineral water for a flight of up to 60 minutes.
