Be Picky Miami: Selected Tips from Insiders
Enjoy dream beaches and follow in the footsteps of a Nobel Prize winner - you can do both! With pilot Florian Pilz's Miami tip: a day trip to Key West
The journey from Miami to the island of Key West takes around four hours and leads over countless bridges, islands, and sandbanks to the southern tip of the USA. It's a wonderful trip, because on the way I take a break on the dream beaches of Key Largo or Marathon and go for a swim.
The last link in the island chain: Key West, where Ernest Hemingway once lived. If you want to follow in the writer's footsteps, visit his Spanish colonial-style house with its tropical garden or have a scotch at the bar in Sloppy Joe's, as Hemingway is said to have done. Fun fact: Key West is only 165 kilometers from Havana as the crow flies, whereas the drive to Miami is 250 kilometers.
Tip:
Experience Key West on a full-day adventure, bookable through GetYourGuide. Whether you go snorkeling, take a trip in a glass-bottom boat, or ride the hop-on hop-off trolley, Key West is sure to leave a lasting impression.
