Terms and conditions of use
1. General
Lufthansa Flight Value Vouchers are an offer from Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Venloer Strasse 151-153, 50672 Cologne, Germany (referred to below as “Lufthansa”). People who register for this offer (referred to below as “Users”) have the option of converting their unused ticket value into a credit and using it to purchase tickets on www.lufthansa.com at a later date.
The use of Flight Value Vouchers is governed by these terms and conditions of use. In addition to these terms of use, the General Terms and Conditions of Carriage of Lufthansa shall apply at all times. You can find these at www.lufthansa.com.
2. Obtaining a Flight Value Voucher
You can apply for a Flight Value Voucher under Flight Value Vouchers.
You can apply for a Flight Value Voucher for flight tickets issued up to and including 15 May 2020 with a confirmed departure date between 1 March and 30 April 2021.
The suitability of the ticket for conversion may be limited by technical requirements. These will be checked by Lufthansa. If a Flight Value Voucher is applied for complex situations that exclude use online (e.g. partly flown tickets, already transferred tickets etc.), Users will be informed about any alternative options available (e.g. reissue of the original ticket for a new journey via the Lufthansa Service Center). The offer to convert a ticket into a Flight Value Voucher is a voluntary service offered by Lufthansa and does not constitute any legal entitlement.
Conversion into a Flight Value Voucher can only be obtained on the Flight Value Voucher Portal quoting the booking number (record locator) or the ticket number of an unused ticket issued by Lufthansa.
A valid Lufthansa or Miles & More user profile is required for conversion. This user profile can also be created immediately before applying for a Flight Value Voucher and is free of charge.
Applications for a Flight Value Voucher will be checked and issued online in the form of a redemption code.
The Flight Value Voucher relates to the named passenger and is issued in the name of the passenger of the underlying ticket. If several tickets are converted into a voucher (e.g. within one family), the User selects the name of the holder of the voucher.
3. Discount Vouchers
Customers who purchased their ticket before 15 May 2020 and choose a Flight Value Voucher will receive an additional Discount Voucher worth a maximum of EUR 50. This must be redeemed on a new ticket by 31 January 2021 and travel must start no later than 31 December 2021. Flight Value Vouchers cannot be used in combination with Discount Vouchers.
Discount Vouchers cannot be refunded. Any residual sum ceases to be valid after the booking and cannot be paid out in cash or used for a second booking.
The value of the Discount Vouchers will be deducted from the net fare with a maximum reduction to a value of EUR 0.

Frequently Asked Questions about Discount Vouchers
Where do I get my additional Discount Voucher and how do I redeem it?
As soon as you have successfully converted your ticket into a Flight Value Voucher, the 50 EUR1 Discount Voucher Code will be automatically sent to you by email. This can take up to five days. You will receive the discount voucher by 30 September 2020 when you convert your ticket into a flight value voucher. The Discount Voucher can be redeemed for another flight as a voucher code before payment.
I have several tickets. Do I receive a Discount Voucher for every ticket I convert?
Yes, you will receive a discount voucher of 50 EUR1 for each converted ticket until September 30, 2020. If you combine several tickets into one Flight Value Voucher, the value of the individual Discount Vouchers will also be automatically combined into a single Discount Voucher. They cannot be combined retroactively.
How long is my Discount Voucher valid?
You can redeem your Discount Voucher on a new booking up to and including 31 January 2021. The journey must begin by 31 December 2021.
How can I redeem my Discount Voucher?
The Discount Voucher can be used for another booking and redeemed as a voucher code before you pay for your ticket. Please note when booking with the Discount Voucher that the departure airport of the new booking must be in the same country as the departure airport on your original ticket.
The Discount Voucher is valid until 31 January 2021 for travel starting no later than 31 December 2021.
4. Terms and conditions of use for Flight Value Vouchers.
Flight Value Vouchers can only be redeemed online on www.lufthansa.com.
The Flight Value Voucher must be redeemed within three years, calculated from the end of the year in which your flight was cancelled. Previous discount vouchers will not be valid. Any other legal or contractual entitlements arising from the original ticket remain unaffected.
The holder of the Flight Value Voucher must be the passenger buying the ticket. If several passengers are booked on one booking, the holder of the Flight Value Voucher must be one of these passengers.
Please note when booking with a Flight Value Voucher that the departure airport of the new booking must be in the same country as the departure airport of the original ticket.
If the value of the voucher exceeds the purchase price of the ticket, the remaining balance can be used for further purchases within the validity of the Flight Value Voucher. For the remaining voucher value, any other legal or contractual entitlements arising from the original ticket remain unaffected.
If the Flight Value Voucher is not sufficient to purchase a new flight in fall, the balance can be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) during the redemption process.
Lufthansa Flight Value Vouchers can only be used on bookings on www.lufthansa.com and on routes that have at least one flight segment with a Lufthansa flight number (e.g. LH123).
The Flight Value Voucher is currently available for the following departure countries: USA, European Union (except Greece, Bulgaria and Slovakia), Switzerland and Great Britain.
They cannot be used on tickets that have already been purchased.
The redemption of the Flight Value Voucher and purchase of a ticket creates a contract of carriage between the Flight Value Voucher holder and Lufthansa. The General Conditions of Carriage of Deutsche Lufthansa AG shall apply. These are available at www.lufthansa.com.
If tickets paid for with a Flight Value Voucher are cancelled in accordance with the legal and fare terms and conditions and are submitted for a refund, the refund value will be transferred back to the Flight Value Voucher. If the Flight Value Voucher is no longer valid at this point in time, a new Flight Value Voucher will be issued.
5. Booking flights and redeeming your Flight Value Voucher
The Flight Value Voucher ceases to be valid after use for the amount of the value used. Any refund entitlement arising from the underlying original ticket is offset against the ticket credit balance used.
6. Refunds
A claim for a refund from a Flight Value Voucher arises from the legal and tariff terms and conditions of the underlying original ticket.
7. Liability
The liability of Lufthansa to compensate Users is excluded, providing the claim is based on minor negligence. This shall not apply in the event of the breach of a duty which Lufthansa is obliged to perform according to the meaning and purpose of the contract, or the fulfilment of which is fundamental to the proper performance of the contract, or on compliance with which Users may generally rely. Where Lufthansa is liable in principle, entitlement to compensation shall be limited to the foreseeable amount of the claim typical to the contract (value of the assigned service).
These limitations of liability shall not apply in the event of injury to life, body or health, gross negligence or wilful intent by the employees, agents or legal representatives of Lufthansa, and in the event of liability stipulated by law regardless of fault, or in the case of any guarantees undertaken.
8. Availability of the website for the use of Flight Value Vouchers
Users are aware that it is technically impossible to ensure unlimited availability of the Flight Value Voucher website with the corresponding Lufthansa services. Lufthansa does not undertake any guarantee in this regard. However, Lufthansa shall endeavour to maintain the continuous availability of the Flight Value Voucher website and its corresponding services as far as possible and for at least 90% of the time. In particular maintenance, security and capacity works to the website and events which lie outside the area of control of Lufthansa (such as disruptions to public communications networks, power cuts etc., for example) may lead to short-term disruptions or the temporary suspension of services. Lufthansa will only carry out maintenance, security and capacity works to the website as required and at times where demand is as low as possible. Lufthansa does not warrant that the services of third parties, in particular network services and other third-party supplies, will remain free from interruption, fault-free and reliable at all times.

10. Amendments to the terms and conditions of participation
Lufthansa is entitled to amend these terms and conditions of participation with immediate effect for the future. Users will be notified of this. Lufthansa shall only have this right if the change is reasonable for Users, taking the interests of Lufthansa into account.
11. Concluding provisions
German law shall apply to these terms and conditions of participation and all legal relationships between the User and Lufthansa; the UN Convention on the International Sale of Goods and International Private Law are excluded, unless it is mandatory that another law must apply.
1 In order to receive the Discount Voucher, please first convert your original ticket into a Flight Value Voucher online for (value of ticket). You can also redeem your Flight Value Voucher online. You will then receive your personal Discount Voucher in a separate email (reduction of EUR/CHF/USD 50 or the corresponding amount in the currency of the ticket) that you will be able to use for another ticket purchase online.
With vouchers at hand you can select "voucher" as a payment option when booking a flight at the "Your payment information" stage. You will then be able to redeem up to three vouchers per booking. These vouchers can be of different types and values.
In case the total amount of the voucher(s) is lower than the grand total of the booking, the difference can be paid by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express).
In case a complete booking is refunded (subject to the applicable tariff rules), all original form of payments will be re-credited with the respective amounts.
In case not all tickets of a booking are refunded, the following priority (subject to the applicable tariff rules) applies:
- (If applicable) Refund of the amount paid by card to the card used for the booking (original form of payment).
- Refund of the redeemed voucher value to the voucher(s) used for the booking. If several vouchers have been used in one booking and not all of them are to be refunded, priority is given to the voucher(s) offering the most favorable conditions.
