Green Fares: More sustainable air travel
A carbon-neutral footprint by 2050. This is the ambitious target set by Lufthansa and the Lufthansa Group, and we’re putting every effort into achieving it, including making our aviation emissions as low as possible. One outcome of this strategy is Green Fares - new fares that make more sustainable travel possible both throughout Europe and on selected intercontinental routes.
Our new Green Fares will also earn you extra Points and enable you to enjoy flexible rebooking options, as well as the extra benefits of our Economy or Business Saver fares.
Reduce and offset: Green Fares throughout Europe
Selecting one of the Economy Green and Business Green fares will reduce 20% of individual flight-related CO₂ emissions by using sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) and offset the remaining 80% of CO2 emissions to an equivalent extent by contributing to high-quality climate protection projects. This 20:80 combination of carbon reduction and offsetting is a fundamental part of the Green Fares on European flights and allows more sustainable air travel.
Green Fares on selected intercontinental flights
We now also offer Green Fares on selected intercontinental routes flown by the Lufthansa Group to make your travel more sustainable.
Selecting one of the Economy Green, Premium Eco Green, Business Green or First Green fares on intercontinental routes will reduce 10% of individual flight-related carbon emissions by using sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs) and offset the remaining 90% of individual flight-related carbon emissions by contributing to high-quality climate protection projects.
Available on the following routes: Frankfurt–Bangalore (FRA–BLR), Munich–Incheon (MUC–ICN), Brussels–Kinshasa N’Djili (BRU–FIH), Zurich–Los Angeles (ZRH–LAX), Frankfurt–Miami (FRA–MIA), Singapore–London (SIN–LON), Sao Paulo–Zurich (GRU–ZRH), Nairobi–Frankfurt (NBO–FRA), Bangkok–Vienna (BKK–VIE), Hong Kong–London (HKG–LON), Paris–Bangkok (PAR–BKK).

Green Fares on SWISS domestic flights
On domestic flights between Zurich and Geneva, SWISS only offers fares that include the offsetting of carbon emissions in the price. This is achieved by combining a 20% reduction by using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with an 80% contribution to high-quality climate protection projects. Passengers on this route also have the option of a Green Fare with an even higher proportion of SAF: Sustainable aviation fuels reduce individual flight-related CO2 emissions by 50% and the remaining 50% is offset by contributing to climate protection projects.
The adjusted fares can only be booked for flights between Geneva and Zurich and do not apply to feeder or connecting flights.
