From booking to landing: with many coordinated services and benefits especially for families, Lufthansa makes flying with children even more enjoyable. As a family-friendly airline, we show an interest in the wishes and requirements of every individual passenger, large or small, and meet a high standard in terms of safety and quality.
Planning your trip
Even before your holiday begins, you can make a number of preparations, including family seating requests that will enable your whole family to enjoy a relaxed start to the holiday. With our practical checklist you will always be well prepared.
Family Seating
We know where you sit as a family can make a difference to your trip so we aim to make it a little easier.
If you don't select your seats in advance, where possible we'll automatically reserve suitable seats for you approximately 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure. If you can't all be seated together, we'll make reasonable efforts to ensure each child under 14 years of age is seated with an adult travelling on the reservation. Therefore, it’s important that you indicate in your reservation at the time of booking that you are travelling with young children.
As an alternative, you can contact our Service Center and make a request to be seated with your children. As long as adjoining seats are available at the time the request is made, we will assign them to you without charging any seat selection fees.

With Lufthansa, flying becomes an enjoyable experience for the whole family that begins as soon as you arrive at the airport. At our Frankfurt and Munich hubs, in particular, families are especially well looked after before boarding.
In Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich, families can check in their baggage themselves at the self-service bag drop kiosks.

On-board entertainment
Keeping our young passengers entertained is very important to us, so we offer an extensive inflight entertainment program for teenagers, children (2–7 years), and babies (0–2 years) on board .
