Baggage drop

You can drop off your baggage by scanning your boarding pass at a bag drop kiosk at supporting airports.

For quick and convenient baggage drop-off, we recommend checking in online or using the Lufthansa app to obtain your boarding pass 30 hours before departure. If you are unable to obtain your boarding pass online, check-in kiosks are available at the airport.

At many airports, you can drop off your baggage yourself by scanning your boarding pass at a bag drop kiosk.

Baggage drop locations and times

Get started by checking in online or through the Lufthansa app, you can do this up to 30 hours before departure. To find the baggage drop locations and times for your departure airport, check your boarding pass under "Baggage Drop-off" or in the Lufthansa app under "Baggage."

Mobile and online check-in or baggage drop at the kiosk are unavailable at some locations. In these circumstances, please follow the information on the monitors at the airport and proceed to the indicated check-in counters to drop off your baggage.

Further information on the areas used by Lufthansa for check-in and baggage drop at your departure airport, as well as on dropping off sports equipment and special baggage (bulky baggage), can be found at the following links:

Keep an eye on your luggage with the app

After dropping off your bags, you will receive a digital receipt via email and in the Lufthansa app. You can also use the app to track when your baggage was loaded.

At our Frankfurt and Munich hubs, the app will notify you upon arrival on which baggage carousel to collect your baggage from.
