What to see and do in Munich

Travel to or from the centre of Munich
After your flight arrives at Munich Airport you can travel to the city centre by train, which takes 45 min or bus.
The airport S-Bahn rail link S1 goes from Munich Airport via Neufahrn, Moosach, Laim, Munich Hauptbahnhof (main station), Marienplatz to Ostbahnhof and back.
At the Hauptbahnhof (Main Station) and Ostbahnhof, passengers can transfer to mainline and regional train services.
Numerous bus routes connect the airport to the surrounding cities and towns. The bus station is in front of the Munich Airport Center, just a few steps from Terminal 1 and 2. Other bus stops: Vacationers parking lot (P41), Visitors Park, Terminal 1 Module A/B, Terminal 2.
Shopping tipps for Munich
The main shopping areas in Munich are Neuhauserstrasse and Kaufingerstrasse, both lined with large department stores and international chains. Smaller, more exclusive boutiques can be found around Maximilianstrasse and Theatinerstrasse. Typical gifts might include wood carvings or the famous “gingerbread” of Munich. A shopping-paradise begins just behind the University and lovers of literature in particular will feel at home in the antiquarian shops round Schellingstrasse.
