Travel report Sylt

Sylt, Germany’s northernmost island, is known above all for its health resorts, which are popular with tourists. Although Westerland is the town most often mentioned in the tour guides, these also include the villages of Kampen and Wenningstedt. As well as its outstanding hotels and restaurants, tour guides also refer to the traces of the past on Sylt. A particularly interesting tourist attraction is the ancient burial mound, over 6,000 years old, at Denghoog. And Sylt has a lot to offer visitors in terms of natural attractions too, such as shifting sand dunes and tidal mudflats. However, some of these attractions, such as the Red Cliff,
are threatened by coastal erosion caused by storm tides.
