Combinations of user IDs and passwords are frequently stolen on other websites. Unfortunately, most customers use exactly the same login data on several different platforms. This allows hackers to get unauthorised access to a profile and steal the customer’s miles, for example. By using an mTAN, Lufthansa is increasing its security standards.

Sometimes, the input which should be able to identify a bot attacker is not clear. In such cases, we use an additional picture test to establish that you are a “real” user.
They are a network of computers linked together by (often undetected) malware which send automatic requests (i.e. without human interaction) to websites at high frequency. Their aim is to test various user IDs & passwords many times by means of a software, until the right combination is found.
